Mr. Guiab shows how to DIY remove the lagutok of the rack and pinion steering. Nothing was wrong mechanically. Just that the interior were dry and no grease. Easy to do removal. Remove 4 bolts, tie rod end. Remove 2 bolts at the top from the column.
Remove the boot, remove the pinion and the guide. Inspect the rack and pinion. The difficult part are the lock ring removal and replacement
Easyng2 pala pag adjust ng rear parking brake. Linis lang adjust lang ng brake adjuster. If the pads are still thick. Otherwise, replace brake pads. If not sandpaper pads.
When you are in a hurry Rey Guiyab showed that you can align the wheels using tali method. Use string from back up to the front and along side of the vehicle, Adjust tie rod adjustment to make the wheel come nearer and or farther from the string. Or better mark the tie rod adjustment before removal
Did you experience this; lagutok of front shock when there are bumps? All you need to check and repair are the rubber shock mounts that could be easily done diy.
1. Remove top No. 17 nut
2. Remove wheels
3. Remove the mounting of abs and brakes lines
4. Remove the two large front bolts to steering mount;
5. Remove stablizer
6. REmove shock from mount
7. Compress spring
8. Remove the rubber dumper
9. Clean shock shaft
10. Install the rubber mount
11. Decompress spring slowly
12. Install the shock at the mount
13. Attach all the bolts removed
14. Remount wheels
15. Tighten the 17 mm mounting bolt at the strut tower. inside the engine compartment.
FINISH
We all thought that beautiful mag wheels are only built by modern machinery and casting technology . But here we can see that sand casting produce alloy wheels cheaply and also beautifully. Lot of grinding and polishing to do of course. But it can be done
The inputs are scrap aluminum from engine blocks and other scrap aluminum parts/junk
Beatufiful. Amazing
One of the most annoying thing for truckers is to have breakdown and you need to repair the truck immediately, lest you do not get paid. If you have perishable goods, the goods for delivery might rot and decompose.
The alternative to this is to buy brand new trucks (which the people here can not afford) build your own repair facilties: with parts inventory, technicians, machine shop.
Here we can see that numerous technicians and machine shop make emergency repairs possible...
Here we have to tow the truck and buy the parts. Perhaps, they cant afford to do that. They have to make do with the resource they have: resourceful technicians and craftsman and machine shops (they build their own lathe machines). How useful they are to their economy and society at large.
Most mechanics would recommend a P40K transmission take down and repair. But it would cost not more than P1,000 to repair this. All you need is understanding the mechanical principles, having some tools and common sense.
The cause of the hard pedal would be worn out slave piston assembly, dirty hydraulic (brake fluid) stuck up spring.
You can remove the piston and the attachment to the clutch fork lever. Then remove the piston from the assembly. Its either you replace the rubber, the piston (or sand paper the piston and the cylinder. Then bleed. With these procedures, the clutch pedal should work all right afterwards.
For a long2 time our SUVs intermittent wiper did not work; and only the fast mode worked. It was quite irritating. The casa would not want to touch it. If it does, the price goes up the roof.
This post did not realize how easy to do this. (If you are patient enought)
It is amazing. I a male could not do what she is doing. Wow
However her work is easier because she has complete tools and machinery: pneumatic bolt remover, jack, automatic tire remover installer.
This is amazing. Do we have this kind of service in the PHL. We should have this one. Like in Northern Luzon and Mindanao. (Will this be expensive)
We should have these air driven jacks so that the workers would work faster and easier.
They make it look so easy. Just welding, the end of the leaf spring, replacing the shaft.
The day passed and the repair was over. AMAZING
Here we see the repair of gear shaft. They bore holes in the steel good shaft, put thread and insert a metal siffener with thread and then weld. Strong eh. Good for next 5 years?
They say this is next to impossible, one of the most difficult repair job in a Subaru. Some say you need to remove the engine. But some say it is easy.
At the driver side, remove the battery. At the battery side, remove the air intake.
Then remove the coil, and then insert the 14 mm spark plug removal tool. The spark plug should go with the spark plug socket removal tool.
I hope it is easy. I have not replaced the spark plug of the subaru. (There is a subaru spark plug and aftermarket)

Until this year, a machine shop was a mystery to me: what are the machines there, what is being done there, why they charge so much
1. Machinery:
1. Drilll machine
2. Lathe machine (more of a rotary cutting tool for me)
3. Sander grinder
4. Mechanical saw
5. Welding machine
Hoist, winch jacks for lifting, Bending machines
It may or many not have a foundry
2. What do they do there:
1. Fabriication of new part that cant be had in stores
2 Repair of gears, shafts, welding jobs
3. Overhaul
There were plenty of Machine Shops before by Balingit,, Yuson, in Angono Lirio and Santos. Now that the old men have died, no one replaced, no one is running the machine shop anymore. Jesuitas used to have lathe machine and tools for a machine shop.
Will 3d printers replace parts factories, machine shops
This is admireable. With limited machinerry repair and measuring equipment. But judging from the way the engine purrs they must have done an admireable job.
If we compare the Western repairs:
1. Proper use of measuring tools: torque wrench, roundness gauge, calipers
2. Clean workplace
3. Proper lubrication
4. Plenty of helpers in Pakistan
5. Westerners would always go fornew complete assemblies which undboutedly are more expensive
With limited knowhow and equipment these workersk/craftsmen have done a wonderful job
It could be misleading because the transmission unit was removed and repaired at a machine shop. This was probably in Pakistan.
However it was a superb job. No need to tow the heavy disabled truck. Only a tricycle was used to transport the damaged transmission. We should admire the mechanic who know excatly the sequence of the gears.
Do we find this in the Philippines? Or in USA. This is probably somewhere in Asia, say Pakistan or Cambodia?
This is a wonderful service and admireable for fair sex
The lady should however do some more weights to handle the heavy work.
To prevent rusting, use 3/16 nickel copper lines. Do not use compression junctions. They may produce catastrophic spilling and failure.
Do not position lines near torsion suspension parts or near hot exhaust.
Locate them near the body For Toyota, flare the lines....
These parts are pricey. The lens alone would set you back by P3,000+ and the whole assembly by P40,000.
I got interested in this because water entered the headlight assembly of the subaru forester we had. You have to find the tabs, remove the front grille and bumper, then you can remove the headlight assembly.
To remove the lens from the plastic body you can do: 1. use a blowtorch (or hair blower) to soften the plastic 2 invent an oven (a box where you blow in the hot air for 15-30 minutes.
Carefully remove the plastic, clean the interior and polish. You should watch the Pakistani craftsmen do this the lens cleaning
This would seem to be a favorite topic, being one of the most difficult task for the said vehicle. You may need a hammer removal tool, and fabricate a pusher type of tool to remove the assembly from the hub. More power
We happen to own a Subaru Forester, that is why this is an interesting repair topic
We usually use bushings for electric fan shafts. However they are prone to early breakage and overheating when the sponge dries of oil. The sealed bearing using 688zzz (metal seals) last longer However they tend to be noisy.
One cant help but admire the remarkable skills of Pakistani craftsmen in metal repairs:
1. Broken trucks repair
2. Upgrade of trucks from short body to long body;
3. Repair of broken gears
4. Die casting of parts, like alum wheels;
5. Even making of lathe machine
6. Mass production of nails, rebars, and other metal products from scrap metal.
Am sure from this repair will rise manufacturing and fabrication prowess
and they are so cheap. One job would cost say $10.00. How we wish we could access their cheap but quality repairs. They weld well and make sure that the finishes are smooth and clean They constantly use lathe machines to make their work appear A1. Remarkable.
In our town and next town, there were many such shops but they died down with next generation. Yuson, Santos, etc. All other manufacturing shops vanished and even factories. Say the C5 is all but 100% residential.
It could be due to the intercooler. Signs of defective intercooler: black soot and oil at the underside from the leak.
